Google Open-Sources Workspace CLI to Expand AI Agent Automation Across Cloud Apps

Google Workspace includes cloud productivity services such as Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Drive. Google has consolidated multiple APIs into a unified command-line interface with support for MCP servers and Agent Skills, allowing AI agents to run workflows across applications and lowering the integration barrier for businesses adopting automation.

The Google Workspace team recently open-sourced Workspace CLI, enabling AI agents to handle email, create calendar events and manage cloud files directly. The tool also integrates with Google Cloud Model Armor to block malicious inputs such as prompt-injection attacks. Reports did not specify an exact release date, and the event involved no investment or transaction amount.
