Taiwan Launches NT$11.75 Billion AI Education Drive

Taiwan’s Ministry of Education has launched the AI Talent Ark Program, a four-year effort designed to carry the island’s AI manufacturing strength into classrooms. Taiwan’s supply chain accounts for roughly 90% of global AI server output, but uneven access to devices, digital content and trained teachers risks widening education gaps. The initiative treats AI literacy as basic infrastructure, pairing classroom technology with curriculum development and teacher training rather than focusing on hardware purchases alone.

The ministry said it will commit NT$11.75 billion over four years under a “software-led hardware” strategy. Central government funding will support AI learning systems, digital course materials and teacher development, while local governments will assess needs and receive subsidies to replace or add devices. The target is to give every student in Taiwan access to a tablet by the end of the four-year program, with the central government leading software and policy and municipalities handling hardware deployment.
