United Financial Launches Rewards Card With Prizeout

2 reports · First detected 2026-03-13 · Last active 2026-03-13

United Financial Credit Union, a Saginaw, Michigan-based institution with about $350 million in assets and 23,000 members, had previously outsourced its rewards card to an unidentified fintech. The arrangement pushed members into a separate app and left the credit union with less control over service and transaction data. United Financial later went without a card program for several years, sacrificing a frequent customer touchpoint as well as interchange, interest and cross-selling opportunities.

United Financial disclosed on March 13, 2026, that it had launched a branded rewards credit card with Prizeout, embedding CashBack+ directly in its digital-banking platform. Members receive clearly denominated cash back instead of points, while the credit union can set reward rates and spending categories. Prizeout Chief Executive David Metz said nearly a dozen other credit unions had launched or were preparing similar cards. An American Bankers Association survey conducted in October 2025 found 90% of rewards-card holders valued their programs.
