FBI Probes Suspected Leak of Millions of American IDs

Banks, payment platforms and fintech companies rely on government-issued IDs such as driver’s licenses to verify customers. The Federal Bureau of Investigation is examining a possible breach involving millions of scans of American driver’s licenses and other identity documents. A seller on a hacker forum has separately claimed to offer more than 160 million related personal records. The report did not specify the date of the suspected breach, identify the affected organization or provide a verified victim count, leaving the source, scope and authenticity of the data under investigation.
