Ching Chan Shifts to AI-Powered Visual Inspection as First Contact Tech Orders Surge

Ching Chan Optical Technology is transforming from a traditional automated optical inspection (AOI) equipment supplier into an intelligent visual-inspection equipment company combining AI with AOI. It is incorporating deep learning into inspection algorithms to improve the accuracy and efficiency of defect detection. The strategy targets demand for automation upgrades in electronics manufacturing and has made subsidiary The First Contact Tech’s passive-component equipment business a growth driver.

The First Contact Tech is benefiting from stronger demand for passive components, with current orders already exceeding its total for all of 2025 and production schedules fully booked. It is expanding capacity in Kaohsiung and Taoyuan ahead of the peak season in the second half of the year. Ching Chan has not disclosed the amount of the expansion investment or a completion date, and the resulting revenue contribution will depend on how quickly the new capacity comes online.
