N26 Adds Wero Instant Payments to App

Wero is a pan-European digital wallet and instant-payment system developed by the European Payments Initiative, or EPI. Built on SEPA Instant rails, it is designed to create a unified, European-controlled standard for account-to-account payments. Integrating Wero extends N26’s long-standing IBAN-free transfer experience beyond its own customer base, allowing users to transact with account holders at other participating banks without relying on a separate wallet app.

N26 launched Wero inside its app on Aug. 11, 2026, for eligible customers in Germany and France, with more markets due to follow progressively. Users can send or receive money around the clock using only a phone number or email address, and funds reach the recipient’s bank account in under 10 seconds. Wero, live for peer-to-peer payments in Germany, France and Belgium since 2024, currently serves 56 million users.
