STS Digital CEO Sees ‘Institutional Summer’ Despite Crypto Price Winter
Crypto token prices remain subdued, but institutional adoption may be advancing on a different track. STS Digital Chief Executive Maxime Seiler said prices are lagging the pace of institutional uptake. He pointed to the Bitcoin futures basis — the gap between futures and spot prices expressed as an annualized return — as a key gauge of professional demand, arbitrage returns and market maturity.
Seiler said crypto remains in a “winter” in price terms while entering an “institutional summer” as professional investors deepen their involvement. He added that the Bitcoin futures basis is converging toward the risk-free rate, suggesting crypto-market returns are increasingly aligning with traditional finance. The report did not disclose a specific basis level, transaction amount or dated milestone for the shift.
