PRECOP Introduces Bitcoin L1's First Native ICO Mechanism for Bridgeless Token Issuance
Bitcoin's mainnet has historically lacked a native smart-contract framework capable of running ICOs directly, leaving token issuers reliant on cross-chain bridges, third-party custody or external protocols. PRECOP combines Simplicity contracts, atomic swaps and covenant scripts to complete fundraising and token delivery simultaneously on Bitcoin L1. The approach reduces bridge and custody risks and has drawn market attention.
Developers recently demonstrated an alpha version of PRECOP that can set issuance conditions directly on the Bitcoin mainnet. Investors receive tokens through atomic swaps after making payment, without using a cross-chain bridge or centralized custodian. The framework currently offers native compatibility with BTC, BRC-20 and Runes. The report did not disclose an official launch date, fundraising amount or the name of the organization developing it.
