E.Sun Advances Nature Finance as NTU Forestry Project Marks Five Years

1 reports · First detected 2026-03-30 · Last active 2026-03-30

E.Sun Financial Holding and National Taiwan University’s Experimental Forest have pursued a century-long ESG program combining reforestation, habitat restoration and academic expertise. The initiative is significant as banks broaden sustainability strategies beyond carbon reduction to biodiversity and natural capital, areas increasingly viewed as sources of financial risk and long-term economic value. It also illustrates how financial institutions can connect conservation projects with their core lending and capital-markets businesses.

The E.Sun-NTU tree-planting program has entered its fifth year, with cumulative forestation exceeding 25 hectares. E.Sun Bank is also expanding “nature finance” through sustainability bond issuance and what it describes as a first-of-its-kind approach to incorporating conservation certification into lending indicators. The measures are designed to steer funding toward companies and projects supporting ecosystem protection, while embedding biodiversity considerations more directly in credit assessment and sustainable-finance products.
