Bits of Gold Data Breach Exposes 200,000 Customers
Bits of Gold, Israel’s largest cryptocurrency broker, disclosed a data breach stemming from a cyberattack on a third-party data analytics provider. The incident underscores the crypto industry’s exposure to supply-chain security failures: even when a broker’s core trading and custody systems remain intact, compromised vendors can expose sensitive customer information that may be used for identity theft, phishing or targeted fraud.
The breach affected about 200,000 Bits of Gold customers and exposed personal information, bank account details and public cryptocurrency wallet addresses. The company said customer funds and private keys were not compromised, meaning the leaked data did not provide direct access to crypto assets. The incident adds to a recent series of cyberattacks targeting third-party service providers connected to cryptocurrency businesses.
