Standard Chartered Sees Growth in Non-Dollar Stablecoins and Digital Settlement Potential in Taiwan
Standard Chartered Group has released a global stablecoin report saying the tokens are gradually expanding beyond cryptocurrency trading into cross-border payments and corporate settlement. As global trade and commerce move toward multiple currencies, businesses increasingly want to lower foreign-exchange costs and shorten payment times, drawing greater attention to the development of non-dollar stablecoins.
As of July 2026, Standard Chartered estimated that the global stablecoin market had surpassed $320 billion, with about 98% denominated in U.S. dollars. The report said non-dollar stablecoins still have substantial room to grow in cross-border payments. Taiwan's position as a global supply-chain hub and its mature fintech foundation also make it well placed to develop digital settlement solutions.
