Taiwan Banks Turn to AI, Cross-Disciplinary Hiring in Talent Push
Taiwan’s banks are accelerating investment in fintech, generative AI and data analytics as an ageing population and a shrinking pool of young workers intensify competition for talent. The shift is raising demand for candidates who can combine finance with software, risk management, compliance and product design. A Taiwan Academy of Banking and Finance survey found 90% of banks viewed generative AI as a key technology for the next three years, making recruitment and reskilling central to the sector’s transformation.
The Taiwan Academy of Banking and Finance held its Financial Talent Matching and Career Exploration Day in Taipei on July 20, 2026, bringing together 16 financial institutions and student teams from five universities. Proposals covered cross-border fund monitoring, behavioral finance for anti-money-laundering alerts, trusts and internal governance, with executives from DBS, Cathay United Bank and Hua Nan Bank serving as judges. The event also offered AI-assisted aptitude assessments, job consultations and a NT$200 voucher for participants who completed designated activities.
