Bitcoin Exchange Net Outflows Signal Continued Investor Accumulation
Large Bitcoin balances on exchanges typically indicate that holders may be ready to sell. By contrast, transfers to self-custody wallets are often viewed as a sign of medium- to long-term holding and tightening supply. On-chain data platform CryptoQuant therefore tracks exchange net flows to gauge market demand and assess whether buying can support prices.
A CryptoQuant analyst said Bitcoin recorded net exchange outflows for most of March, suggesting that investors continued withdrawing BTC after buying it rather than preparing to sell. This accumulation has been one factor keeping prices range-bound recently. However, the report did not disclose the value of the outflows, and demand remains insufficient to put Bitcoin back on a clear upward trend.
