World’s First Generative AI Art Museum DATALAND to Open in Los Angeles

DATALAND, billed as the world’s first physical museum dedicated to generative AI art, was founded by renowned AI artist Refik Anadol and will be based in Los Angeles with backing from NVIDIA. Its establishment marks generative AI’s move from a digital creative tool into a permanent cultural institution, while putting the boundaries surrounding model training data, copyright and technology-driven art in the spotlight.

DATALAND is scheduled to formally open on Dec. 20. Its inaugural exhibition will use a Large Nature Model to generate surreal rainforest landscapes, transforming data from nature into an immersive visual experience. The cost of building the museum, investment amount and ticket prices have not been disclosed; Dec. 20 is the only key date announced so far.
