Shift4 Targets Global Blue Cross-Selling Despite Iran Turmoil

1 reports · First detected 2026-08-12 · Last active 2026-08-12

Shift4 has pushed beyond its U.S. payments base through its acquisition of Swiss tax-free shopping and cross-border payments specialist Global Blue, completed on July 3, 2025, in a deal valued at about $2.5 billion. The purchase gave Shift4 access to luxury retailers and international travelers, extending its operations to more than 75 countries and creating a large pool of merchants to which it can cross-sell payment services.

On May 7, 2026, Shift4 said disruption to Middle East travel from the Iran conflict had weighed on its first quarter, though results met or exceeded guidance. Processing volume rose 24% to $56 billion, while revenue less network fees jumped 49% to $549 million and worldwide payments-based revenue increased 51%. CEO Taylor Lauber plans to drive merchant-services sales through Global Blue’s retail network; Shift4 One is live in seven European countries and is targeted for 15 by end-2026.
