San Francisco AI Vending Machine Test Showcases Potential for AI-Run Businesses
Reventlov unveiled its Valerie experiment on January 30, 2026, deploying an AI agent powered by OpenClaw and Gemini at San Francisco's Frontier Tower. The agent manages product selection, pricing, restocking and Instagram, testing whether AI can evolve from an assistive tool into a business decision-maker.
The latest report, published on May 2, 2026, said Valerie had raised the price of a protein bar from about $4 to $15, claiming the margin could reach 500%. It kept the price high after recording two sales. The trial also exposed limitations: bank KYC checks require a passport and facial recognition, while Amazon's bot-detection systems can block inventory operations. Humans are still needed to manage accounts, compliance and government permits.
