金融三業前五月獲利7569億創歷史新高

Taiwan’s three financial sectors comprise banking, insurance and securities, whose profits reflect interest rates, capital-market performance and financial activity among companies and consumers. Stronger global stock markets and improving investment sentiment in 2024 boosted investment gains and operating revenue across the sectors. Their first-four-month results also served as a key gauge of financial conditions and the industries’ underlying health.

Financial Supervisory Commission data showed that the three sectors posted cumulative pretax profit of NT$589.066 billion through the end of April 2024, up 109.2% from the same period in 2023. The result was a record for the period and approached NT$600 billion. Profits rose across banking, insurance and securities, mainly as gains in global financial markets lifted both investment returns and core-business revenue.

Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission tracks earnings across banking, securities and futures, and insurance, providing a gauge of interest margins, capital-market conditions and insurers’ investment returns. All three sectors posted growth in the first quarter of 2026, signaling a recovery in financial markets, with banks remaining the main profit engine.

The FSC said the three sectors recorded combined pretax profit of NT$370.997 billion in the first quarter of 2026, up 37.09% from a year earlier. Banking-sector pretax profit reached NT$195.24 billion, setting another record for the period. Taiwanese banks’ overseas operations earned NT$28.99 billion, also a record for the first quarter.
