Stellantis Taps Mobileye for Hands-Free Driving From 2027

Stellantis is expanding its use of technology from Intel-controlled Mobileye as automakers race to make advanced driver-assistance systems more widely available. The partnership will combine Mobileye’s EyeQ chips with its Road Experience Management, or REM, mapping platform to support Level 2 hands-free driving. Such systems can steer and maintain lane position under certain conditions but still require the driver to remain attentive and ready to take control.

The automaker plans to begin deploying the Mobileye-based system across its vehicle lineup in 2027. REM will use real-time data gathered from connected vehicles to build and continually update a global three-dimensional road map, enabling intelligent lane keeping and other assistance features. Stellantis and Mobileye did not disclose the financial terms of the agreement or identify the first brands and models scheduled to receive the technology.
