MARA Holdings to Buy Long Ridge Energy for $1.5 Billion in AI Data Center Expansion
MARA Holdings, originally focused on Bitcoin mining, has shifted toward AI and high-performance computing infrastructure in recent years. With data center power supplies constrained and grid connections taking time, owning generation assets and a large tract of land could reduce expansion uncertainty while allowing existing mining operations and future AI computing capacity to share an energy platform.
MARA announced on April 30, 2026, that it would acquire Long Ridge Energy & Power from FTAI Infrastructure for $1.5 billion. The assets include more than 1,600 acres in Ohio and a 505 MW combined-cycle natural gas power plant. The company expects the site could eventually supply more than 1 GW of power for AI and IT infrastructure.
