SchoolsFirst FCU Launches Fuel Rewards as Gas Prices Rise
SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union, a member-owned lender serving U.S. school employees and their families, has more than 1.5 million members and over $36 billion in assets. Rising gasoline prices and commuting expenses are especially relevant for educators whose travel costs can absorb a larger share of household budgets. By using member transaction data to identify pressure points, the credit union is tying card incentives to an essential spending category, a move that may ease costs while deepening member engagement.
A report on Aug. 11, 2026, said SchoolsFirst FCU had introduced a limited-time promotion covering purchases at gas stations and electric-vehicle charging points. Its Rewards Mastercard ordinarily earns 1.5 points per $1 spent, while newly activated cards receive 10,000 points, valued at $100. As of Aug. 12, the report did not specify the promotional earn rate, spending cap or expiration date, leaving the offer’s ultimate value dependent on terms disclosed directly to eligible cardholders.
