MITRE Drafts Continuous Remote Attestation Framework for AI Security
U.S. nonprofit research organization MITRE has proposed a Continuous Remote Attestation Framework aimed at establishing a common way to verify trust across cloud, artificial intelligence and confidential-computing environments. Unlike security checks performed only when systems start or workloads are deployed, continuous attestation is designed to detect changes while infrastructure is operating. The approach seeks to close gaps in conventional defenses and provide a technical foundation for implementing zero-trust security.
The draft uses layered attestation spanning hardware, firmware and infrastructure through to AI workloads at the top of the computing stack, allowing each component’s trust status to be checked on an ongoing basis. MITRE is developing the framework with industry participants and has opened it for public comment through the end of August. Feedback from technology and security stakeholders will be used to refine the proposal as MITRE works toward standards for securing future computing environments.
