Mirae Asset Completes Korbit Crypto Exchange Acquisition
South Korean financial group Mirae Asset has completed its acquisition of cryptocurrency exchange Korbit, underscoring growing interest among traditional financial institutions in digital-asset businesses. Korbit is one of South Korea’s major crypto trading platforms, and the deal gives Mirae Asset a direct foothold in an industry operating under increasingly formal domestic regulation. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Mirae Asset has secured a 92.06% stake in Korbit following completion of the transaction, local media reported on July 23, 2026. The group plans an additional transaction later this week that would lift its ownership to 97.15%, an increase of 5.09 percentage points. No value was reported for either the completed acquisition or the planned follow-on purchase.
