Meta Launches America’s Workforce Academy to Support AI Data Center Construction

Meta is accelerating construction of large data centers across the United States to expand the computing capacity needed for generative AI. However, shortages of electricians, welders, plumbers and fiber-optic technicians have become a bottleneck for infrastructure deployment. America’s Workforce Academy is more than an employment initiative: it is designed to build a reliable construction labor pipeline for Meta’s AI capital spending.

Meta announced on June 8, 2026, that it would invest $115 million in the program’s first year. Working with partners including Associated Builders and Contractors, it will offer free four- to five-week training courses, initially in Indiana, Louisiana, Ohio and Texas. No prior experience is required. Graduates will receive an industry credential from NCCER and an AWA certificate, with jobs provided by contractors working on Meta data center projects.
