Binance Altcoins Show Recovery, but CryptoQuant Says Altseason Call Is Premature
An altcoin season typically describes a broad market phase in which capital rotates from Bitcoin into smaller cryptocurrencies, lifting prices across the sector. CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost tracks the share of Binance-listed altcoins trading above their 200-day moving averages as a gauge of longer-term momentum. A rising proportion suggests investors are gradually regaining an appetite for risk beyond the largest digital assets.
A May 14, 2026 report showed that about 21% of Binance-listed altcoins had reclaimed their 200-day moving averages, up from roughly 2% in February and near levels last seen in September 2025. The reading remained well below the 60%-80% range recorded in the fourth quarter of 2024 and around mid-2025. Darkfost said constrained liquidity and an oversupply of tokens mean it is still too early to declare a full altseason.
