ByteDance Launches Seedance 2.5 to Upgrade AI Video Generation

ByteDance is stepping up investment in the generative AI video market, positioning its Seedance models for film, television, advertising and short-form video production. As model-generated content fuels disputes over the unauthorized use of characters and film and television material, securing legitimate licenses and reducing commercial legal risks have become crucial to the large-scale adoption of video-generation tools.

ByteDance has released Seedance 2.5, doubling the maximum length of a single generated video from 15 seconds to 30 seconds, adding support for 4K output and allowing users to import up to 50 reference assets at once. The company has also introduced compliant creation templates with rights holders including Stephen Chow, seeking to establish a model that combines licensed content with AI generation. The report did not disclose the release date, licensing fees or pricing plans.
