GitHub Project Offers Brand Design Guides to Help AI Agents Build Better-Looking Websites

AI coding agents need a secure execution layer to read and modify files, invoke tools and carry out software-development tasks. Vercel built fx in the Zig programming language as a lightweight, portable and model-agnostic environment, aiming to reduce the effort required to add agentic capabilities across command-line workflows, code editors and browser-based applications.

Vercel has now released fx as open-source software. Developers can run it as a standalone command-line tool, embed it in existing development environments or deploy it in a browser through WebAssembly. The project also supports the Model Context Protocol, or MCP, and subagent extensions, allowing teams to connect external tools and assemble multi-agent workflows without committing to a particular AI model.

Anthropic developed Claude Code as an agentic tool that can inspect repositories, edit software and run tests from a terminal. Connecting it with Claude Design narrows a longstanding gap between interface mockups and production code: developers can explore visual directions using an existing project’s components and brand rules, then continue implementation without exporting static files or rebuilding the design by hand. The integration puts design iteration and software development in a shared workflow.

Anthropic released the update on June 17, 2026, adding the /design command for creating, editing and synchronizing design projects without leaving Claude Code. Users can generate and refine multiple editable canvases, turn existing code into a live prototype and hand a selected direction back to Claude Code for implementation. Anthropic said more than 1 million people used Claude Design in its first week. The beta is included with Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise subscriptions, although Enterprise administrators must enable it.

Figma’s MCP server previously focused on bringing design context into development tools, with AI largely limited to reading files or converting coded interfaces into editable layers. Figma is now enabling agents to write to the canvas while reusing components, variables and Auto Layout. The change could reduce repeated handoffs between design and development, while allowing designers to focus more on reviews, brand consistency and system governance.

Figma announced on March 24, 2026, that use_figma had entered Open Beta. Using the Plugin API, agents can directly create and modify Figma files and components. The feature supports nine MCP clients, including Claude Code, Codex and Cursor. It is free during testing but will eventually be priced based on usage. Figma also plans to add image and custom-font support, gradually bringing the feature in line with the Plugin API’s capabilities.
