Influential Financial Policy Analyst Karen Petrou Dies at 73

Karen Petrou and her husband, Basil Petrou, co-founded Washington consultancy Federal Financial Analytics, which has long studied bank regulation, financial stability and monetary policy. She was regarded as one of Washington’s most influential banking policy analysts, and her insights were also valued by regulators and financial institutions worldwide.

Petrou died of liver cancer on Saturday at the age of 73. She continued her policy research and advocacy after losing her sight and remained active until late in life.
