Morpho Launches Fixed-Rate Midnight Lending on Base
Morpho, a non-custodial decentralized lending protocol, has largely operated in a DeFi market dominated by variable borrowing costs. Fixed-rate, fixed-term credit can give lenders clearer returns and borrowers more predictable funding expenses, reducing exposure to abrupt rate swings. That structure is considered an important step toward attracting companies, funds and other institutions that require greater certainty before deploying capital onchain.
Morpho launched Morpho Midnight on Coinbase-backed Base in July 2026, initially supporting markets for cbBTC and USDC. The service allows lenders and borrowers to set their own interest rates and maturity dates, creating fixed borrowing terms through onchain markets. Morpho is positioning the product as an alternative to variable-rate DeFi loans and as infrastructure that could broaden institutional and corporate participation in decentralized finance.
