KYCP Adds Recycle Bin to Reduce AML Record Deletion Risk
Financial institutions must balance two potentially conflicting compliance demands: honoring the European Union’s GDPR right to erasure while retaining customer records required under anti-money laundering, or AML, rules. Accidental deletion can break an audit trail and expose firms to regulatory scrutiny, making recoverability and controlled disposal important safeguards in compliance data management.
As of July 28, 2026, compliance platform KYCP has introduced a recycle bin feature for customer records, giving institutions an opportunity to recover information before it is permanently removed. The update is designed to reduce the risk that users inadvertently erase material AML documentation while helping firms apply GDPR deletion requirements more carefully. No transaction value is involved; the release focuses on record governance, deletion controls and audit readiness.
