CIBC Rolls Out AI Platform to Cut Advisers’ Administrative Work
Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce is expanding generative AI across its internal workflows as banks seek to automate repetitive work without handing over judgment-heavy advice. CIBC AI, or CAI, can summarize documents, draft emails, compile research and prepare presentations, reducing administrative work for advisers and other employees. The productivity drive could give wealth advisers more time for client conversations, financial planning and relationship management while keeping sensitive tasks within a governed internal system.
CIBC announced the bank-wide rollout of its homegrown platform on May 27, 2025, after beginning a pilot in July 2024 with employees in Canada, the United States and Britain. The bank said the pilot saved more than 200,000 hours, with several thousand employees participating by April 2025. Staff must complete mandatory AI training before gaining access. CIBC did not disclose development costs or specify how many financial advisers were using the platform at launch.
