Taiwan’s eGift Program Drives Shareholder E-Voting to Record High
Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission has directed Taiwan Depository & Clearing Corp. to introduce eGift, a digital service for distributing shareholder-meeting souvenirs after investors cast electronic ballots. The initiative is designed to make participation more convenient, reduce reliance on paper vouchers and physical distribution, and encourage shareholders to exercise voting rights directly, while supporting corporate-governance and environmental goals.
A total of 44 Taiwan-listed and over-the-counter companies have adopted eGift this year, with convenience-store gift cards emerging as the most popular option. The FSC said the rollout helped lift both the number of electronic ballots and the volume of shares represented to record highs. The results suggest digitized shareholder perks can provide a practical incentive for broader voting participation without sacrificing companies’ sustainability objectives.

The history behind this eventTDCC Launches eGift to Digitalize Shareholder Meetings
Taiwan's annual shareholder-meeting season runs from April through June. Shareholder gifts have traditionally relied on in-person collection and physical distribution, often forcing investors to travel and wait in line. Taiwan Depository & Clearing Corporation launched eGift to connect electronic voting with a digital redemption process, helping issuers reduce staffing and delivery costs while advancing ESG and financial-inclusion goals.
TDCC announced the formal launch of eGift on March 23, 2026. Shareholders who complete electronic voting and meet the shareholding requirements can redeem gifts through the TDCC ePASSBOOK or a securities firm's app. The initial rollout connects five participating companies: 7-ELEVEN, FamilyMart, Taiwan High Speed Rail, LINE Pay and Taroko. TDCC also launched a prize draw worth more than NT$13 million in total.
