Bitget Wallet Sees Asia Stablecoins Linking Wallets to Local Payments
Stablecoins will need to move beyond crypto trading and develop recurring payment habits to become part of everyday finance, according to Bitget Wallet’s Asia-Pacific head Will Wu. He sees crypto wallets serving as the main consumer gateway, while regulated partners connect dollar-backed stablecoins with domestic currency conversion and local payment rails across Asia’s fragmented financial markets.
Wu said daily payment transactions on Bitget Wallet have already surpassed trading transactions, signaling that usage is expanding from investment activity into routine spending. He expects Asia’s stablecoin market by 2027 to center on a “wallet gateway plus local-currency payment rails” model, with regulated intermediaries handling compliance, fiat conversion and connections to domestic payment infrastructure.
