BlackRock’s BUIDL Adopts Chronicle Verification Layer
BlackRock launched the BlackRock USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund, or BUIDL, on March 20, 2024. Tokenized by Securitize, the fund invests in short-term U.S. Treasuries, repurchase agreements and cash, targeting a price of $1 per token. By bringing a traditional money market fund on-chain, BUIDL provides important infrastructure for real-world assets entering DeFi collateral and settlement applications.
Chronicle announced on March 26, 2026, that BUIDL had adopted its Proof of Asset system as an on-chain verification layer. The fund had $2.1 billion in assets under management at the time. The system directly integrates holdings data from custodians and administrators, continuously verifying valuations, asset composition, custody status and data freshness. This allows protocols to verify the reserves backing the tokens in real time and reduces information risk when BUIDL is used as DeFi collateral.
