Asset Tokenization
Asset tokenization is the issuance, trading and management of rights to assets such as government bonds, funds, private credit, real estate and gold in the form of blockchain-based tokens. The UK, South Korea and Japan have recently accelerated efforts to develop on-chain government bond and repo markets, while financial institutions are also making tokenization a strategic priority. Networks including Stellar, Avalanche and Solana continue to attract real-world assets. Tokenization could reshape asset issuance, settlement and liquidity management, but it also raises questions about legal rights, regulatory frameworks, cybersecurity and risks tied to underlying assets.
