Bitdeer Sells Entire Bitcoin Holdings, Shifts Fully to AI Data Centers and HPC

1 reports · First detected 2026-02-23 · Last active 2026-02-23

Singapore-based Bitdeer Technologies Group (Nasdaq: BTDR) built its business around Bitcoin mining but has expanded its existing power and data-center assets into AI, high-performance computing and cloud services in recent years. AI data centers require substantial investment in GPUs and facility upgrades. Liquidating its Bitcoin treasury can provide construction funding and signals that the company is reallocating capital toward AI infrastructure.

Bitdeer disclosed on February 20, 2026, that its corporate Bitcoin holdings had fallen to zero. During the week, it mined and sold 189.8 BTC and disposed of another 943.1 BTC from its reserves. The company also priced $325 million of convertible senior notes and a $43.5 million equity financing to fund data centers, HPC, AI cloud services and ASIC research and development.

Bitdeer Signs $4.7 Billion Norway AI Lease With Volta2026-08-05 · 2 reports · similarity 0.86

Bitdeer, best known for Bitcoin mining and its proprietary mining rigs, has been redeploying its power and data-center portfolio toward AI cloud and high-performance computing infrastructure. The Tydal conversion is significant because it could replace volatile mining economics with long-duration contracted revenue. The project also highlights a broader industry shift as cryptocurrency miners seek to monetize scarce power connections and facilities amid surging demand for AI computing capacity.

Bitdeer said on Aug. 4, 2026, that its Tydal Data Center AS unit signed a 16-year colocation lease and services agreement with Volta subsidiary Volta Tydal AS. The contract covers 121 IT megawatts and about $4.7 billion of scheduled revenue, potentially rising to $8 billion with an eight-year extension. The two phases are targeted to begin on Dec. 31, 2026, and March 31, 2027. Bitdeer shares jumped to about $14.50 intraday after the announcement before retreating toward $12.40.
