High-Performance Computing

High-performance computing, or HPC, uses clusters, accelerators and high-speed networks to handle intensive workloads such as AI training, scientific simulations and large-scale data analysis. Recent demand has continued to drive advanced chips, test interfaces, liquid cooling and secure cloud deployments, while TSMC has committed additional investment in the United States. Bitcoin miners including CleanSpark, MARA and TeraWulf are also repurposing power and data-center assets for AI data centers. HPC has implications for semiconductor exports, energy allocation and the global distribution of computing capacity. Key issues include whether investment translates into revenue and whether capacity and cooling bottlenecks can be overcome.
