Pump.fun Generates Over One-Third of Solana's First-Quarter Revenue
Pump.fun is a major memecoin launch and trading platform in the Solana ecosystem, and its fee revenue illustrates how on-chain speculation affects the network's economy. Even as the memecoin boom cooled, Solana expanded into payments and real-world asset tokenization, attracting institutions including BlackRock and Visa.
Pump.fun generated $124.7 million in revenue in the first quarter of 2026, accounting for more than one-third of total application revenue on the Solana network during the period. Meanwhile, the market capitalization of real-world assets (RWAs) on Solana surpassed $2 billion, indicating that its growth momentum is extending beyond memecoins into institutional payments and tokenization.

The history behind this eventPump.fun Laid Off Staff Before PUMP Grants Vested
Pump.fun is a Solana-based launchpad that lets users create and trade memecoins within seconds, turning it into one of crypto’s biggest fee-generating businesses. More than 20.8 million Solana tokens have been created on the platform, which has generated about $1.3 billion in lifetime revenue, according to Dune data cited by Sandmark. Its workforce expanded from three people to nearly 100 by early 2026, making promised PUMP token grants a potentially significant part of employee compensation.
Sandmark reported on July 31 that employees were called into a group meeting in late March and had their contracts terminated in early April, about two months before vesting was due to begin. Co-founder Noah Tweedale said Pump.fun had “grown too quickly.” Under agreements signed in mid-June 2025, workers were scheduled to unlock 25% of their PUMP allocations one year later; at least one former employee lost tokens worth more than $1 million at prices cited in the report. Former staff said a second round in mid-July pushed total departures above 40, a claim Sandmark could not independently verify.
PUMP Leads Crypto Gainers as Golden Cross Signals Momentum
Pump.fun is a Solana-based memecoin launchpad that allows users to create and trade tokens with minimal friction. Its native token, PUMP, is closely watched as a gauge of activity on the platform and speculative appetite across the memecoin market. A golden cross occurs when a shorter-term moving average rises above a longer-term measure, a formation commonly viewed by technical traders as bullish, though it does not guarantee further gains.
On Aug. 18, 2026, PUMP gained nearly 9%, making it the best performer among the 100 largest cryptocurrencies by market value. The token’s 50-day exponential moving average crossed above its 200-day EMA for the first time, producing a golden cross. Pump.fun also generated more than $10 million in weekly protocol revenue, the highest in seven months, reinforcing the price signal with a sharp improvement in platform activity.
