Chime Launches Self-Directed and Managed Investing in App

1 reports · First detected 2026-07-21 · Last active 2026-07-21

Chime Financial is a U.S. consumer financial-technology company that offers banking services through partner banks rather than operating as a bank itself. Adding investing to an app members already use for paychecks, spending and saving broadens Chime’s push to become a full-service financial hub. The move also targets a sizable access gap: about 40% of Americans report owning no stocks, while Chime says its customers cite limited time, competing financial needs and the cost of professional advice as barriers.

Chime said on July 20, 2026, that Chime Invest will roll out broadly over the coming weeks. Users can buy U.S. stocks and ETFs commission-free through self-directed accounts or choose diversified portfolios managed by SEC-registered adviser Atomic Invest, starting with as little as $1 and no account minimum. Annual managed-account fees are zero for Chime Prime members, 0.10% for Chime Plus and 0.25% for other members. Securities are protected by SIPC for up to $500,000, including a $250,000 cash limit.
