3 reports · First detected 2026-05-05 · Last active 2026-05-06

Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission sought to address a shortfall in basic coverage caused by consumers’ preference for savings-oriented policies by promoting a Retirement Preparation Platform developed by the Taiwan Depository & Clearing Corporation. The platform began offering its Protection-Oriented Insurance Product Platform service on September 23, 2021. Consumers can compare products through a single portal before being directed to insurers’ dedicated websites to purchase coverage, helping households mitigate financial risks from death, disability and critical illness at lower premiums.

The FSC said on May 5, 2026, that the platform had 10,571 active policies and NT$138.60 million in premium income as of the end of March. It currently offers four product categories: small-amount whole-life insurance, term life insurance, critical illness health insurance and microinsurance. Small-amount whole-life policies provide up to NT$900,000 in coverage per person, while critical illness health policies cover seven major illnesses. Online applications are available without time or location restrictions.
