Bybit Pay Enters South African Payments Market Through MoneyBadger Integration
South Africa has about 5.8 million crypto-asset holders, representing 9.44% of the population, and 52% of them have used cryptocurrency for purchases. Connecting investment assets to everyday retail spending is therefore a significant step. Bybit is working with MoneyBadger, a local payment integrator founded in 2022, to reduce the barriers for merchants that would otherwise need to build their own integrations and hold crypto assets.
Bybit announced the MoneyBadger integration on April 28, 2026, allowing users to pay with more than 20 assets, including Bitcoin and stablecoins. The service covers more than 650,000 Scan to Pay locations, over 31,000 Zapper locations and more than 1,500 Pick n Pay stores. Transactions are limited to $0.06–$2,500 and typically take 10–15 seconds, while merchants receive South African rand to reduce their exposure to cryptocurrency price volatility.
