Superior Plating Targets AI Liquid Cooling and CPO Optical Communications
Superior Plating Technology, traditionally focused on surface treatment for hard-drive components, is using its exclusive nickel-gold-indium plating process to enter the supply chains for AI liquid cooling, co-packaged optics, or CPO, modules and high-capacity data-center hard drives. The move is intended to reduce its reliance on low-margin businesses. These products are critical to high-speed server transmission and cooling efficiency, marking an important step in the company’s product upgrade.
To meet capacity relocation demand from major global manufacturers, Superior Plating is expanding its production sites in Thailand and Vietnam. It expects to begin mass production on a high-end optical-module surface-treatment line in the third quarter, accelerating its push into AI and CPO opportunities. The company has not disclosed the additional capacity, capital expenditure or specific customers. The pace of mass production and resulting order contributions will be key indicators of its operating performance.
