PayPal, Synchrony Extend Special Financing Across Mastercard Network
PayPal Credit has traditionally operated as a reusable digital credit line at PayPal checkout, with Synchrony serving as the issuer and lending partner. Extending the product through Mastercard’s acceptance network broadens it beyond PayPal’s online ecosystem, giving the payments company a larger presence in both e-commerce and physical retail as competition intensifies among credit cards and buy-now, pay-later providers.
PayPal and Synchrony said on June 3, 2025, that a physical PayPal Credit card would allow eligible U.S. customers to shop online and in stores wherever Mastercard is accepted. Purchases of $149 or more qualify for six months of promotional financing, while transactions and repayment options can be managed through the PayPal app. The companies said the cards would begin rolling out to eligible customers over the following weeks.
