Cardano Contrarian Signal Returns as ADA Short-Squeeze Risk Builds
Holders of Cardano’s native token, ADA, are sitting on average unrealized losses of about 43%, placing the cryptocurrency in what onchain analysts call an “opportunity zone.” The range has often coincided with excessive market pessimism and the early stages of a price recovery, making it a potential contrarian indicator, though a rebound is not guaranteed.
The latest data show that funding rates for ADA perpetual futures have fallen to their most negative level since June 2023, indicating heavily crowded short positions. Similar readings have previously appeared before a rally of about 300%. A price increase could force short sellers to cover and trigger a short squeeze, though macroeconomic pressure and weak growth in the Cardano ecosystem could still limit gains.
