HIWIN Targets Silicon Photonics and Humanoid Robots as Capacity Fills Up
HIWIN Technologies, a Taiwanese maker of precision motion-control components, is expanding beyond machine tools and factory automation into physical AI, silicon photonics and humanoid robotics. The push reflects rising demand for high-precision manufacturing equipment and robot parts as technology companies invest in AI data centers and next-generation automation. Co-packaged optics, or CPO, could create a new equipment market by integrating optical connectivity more closely with advanced computing systems.
HIWIN said its production capacity is fully booked through the first quarter of 2027 as it develops high-precision process equipment for silicon-photonics CPO applications and joint modules for humanoid robots. Robotics-related products now account for 12% of revenue, according to the company. HIWIN expects operations in the second half of 2026 to outperform the first half and projects double-digit growth for the full year, supported by expanding demand for physical-AI and robotics components.
