Astera Labs Shares Surge on Strong AI Infrastructure Demand and CPO Prospects
Astera Labs specializes in high-speed connectivity chips for AI servers, with products spanning PCIe retimers, Scorpio switches and optical connectivity solutions. As AI computing clusters grow, data transfer is becoming a performance bottleneck. Upgrades to newer PCIe generations could also double retimer usage, putting the company’s progress in co-packaged optics, or CPO, and near-packaged optics, or NPO, in the market spotlight.
Astera Labs senior executives recently said demand for the Scorpio portfolio and the company’s optical connectivity strategy could benefit from AI infrastructure investment. They forecast that its first NPO revenue could come as early as 2027, though the company has not disclosed customers, orders or amounts. Market optimism about future CPO demand pushed the shares to an eight-month high.
