Google Launches Fairwind to Bolster Cyber Defense With Gemini

Google has launched Fairwind, an initiative aimed at helping governments and enterprise partners defend against cyber threats at scale. The program gives security teams access to advanced Gemini capabilities designed to identify vulnerabilities, analyze risks and accelerate remediation. Google is positioning the technology as a shift toward proactive, automated defense, allowing organizations to address weaknesses before attackers can exploit them rather than relying primarily on incident response.

The company announced Fairwind alongside Gemini 3.8 Flash and a cybersecurity-focused version of the model. Participating government agencies and businesses will be able to use the AI tools to search for system flaws and support automated fixes, according to the announcement. Google said the approach is intended to improve the speed and reach of defenders confronting large-scale security risks, though it did not disclose participation figures, financial terms or a deployment timetable.
