Vulnerability Patching

Vulnerability patching focuses on how software and cloud service providers reduce exploitation risks through updates after flaws are disclosed. IBM, Red Hat, Microsoft, Adobe, Google and others have recently accelerated the use of AI to help discover, analyze and automatically patch vulnerabilities, while OpenSSH, OpenAI and Fortinet have also released important security updates. As AI makes both vulnerability discovery and attacks more efficient, update frequency, patching deadlines and open-source supply-chain security are drawing greater scrutiny. A key issue is whether companies can deploy patches promptly and manage risks in their software dependencies.
