EthSystems Targets Bank Adoption With Ethereum Privacy Infrastructure

1 reports · First detected 2026-07-28 · Last active 2026-07-28

EthSystems, spun out of the Ethereum Foundation, is developing privacy infrastructure aimed at banks and other financial institutions using public blockchains. The startup argues that confidentiality, rather than scalability, is the critical barrier to institutional adoption because transaction details and commercially sensitive data can be exposed on open networks. Its work is geared toward financial applications including tokenized assets and stablecoins, areas where regulated firms require stronger controls over what information is visible and to whom.

As of July 29, 2026, EthSystems is building institutional-grade tools intended to let financial firms deploy applications on public networks such as Ethereum while shielding sensitive transaction data. The company’s latest public positioning puts privacy at the center of efforts to bring traditional finance onchain. The report did not disclose a funding amount, name participating banks or provide a commercial launch date, leaving the project’s current focus on infrastructure development and potential use in tokenization and stablecoin markets.

EthSystems Launches Blockchain Privacy Technology to Attract Banks2026-07-15 · 2 reports · similarity 0.86

The transparency of public blockchains such as Ethereum helps underpin decentralized security, but inadequate privacy has deterred traditional financial institutions from participating. Blockchain privacy and compliance technology is crucial if banks and asset managers are to move real-world financial processes, including bond issuance and stablecoin settlement, onto Ethereum while maintaining security and regulatory-compliant privacy. It is also a key missing piece in fintech’s application to decentralized finance.

A group within the Ethereum Foundation was spun out on July 14, 2026, to form the for-profit company EthSystems. The company launched a modular privacy system backed by an undisclosed amount of cornerstone funding from Ethereum co-founder Joe Lubin and U.S.-listed Bitmine. It is the third organization recently spun out of the foundation and aims to provide institutions with customized privacy services.
