Brazil Securities Regulator Launches Tokenization Task Force

2 reports · First detected 2026-07-20 · Last active 2026-07-20

Brazil’s Securities and Exchange Commission, known as CVM, is stepping up scrutiny of asset tokenization as blockchain-based issuance gains traction in Latin America’s largest economy. Brazil’s real-world asset, or RWA, market has reached 12 billion reais, increasing pressure on regulators to establish clearer rules that support innovation while protecting investors and ensuring transparency across issuance and secondary trading.

CVM has formed a special task force and given it 60 days from its establishment to deliver recommendations for a tokenization framework. The group will assess lessons from blockchain-based offerings conducted through the regulator’s sandbox, identify gaps in existing securities rules and propose a broader regime governing tokenized asset issuance, trading and oversight.
