AI Helps Ease Frontline Staffing Strain in Taiwan’s Long-Term Care Sector
Taiwan was set to become a super-aged society in 2025, confronting a shortage of long-term care workers and heavy administrative workloads. Frontline nursing staff spend substantial time each day on cumbersome documentation, directly affecting the quality of care. Against this backdrop, using AI to accelerate the sector’s digital transformation and free frontline workers from administrative tasks has become critical to maintaining care quality and ensuring the industry’s sustainable development.
At the Greater South AI Smart Healthcare Expo, held on June 12–13, 2026, technology companies showcased practical applications. Hulian Information unveiled its AI Smart Care Platform 3.0 to simplify medical recordkeeping, while Chang Cheng Computer’s Chang Cheng Care Manager platform uses a case-assessment mechanism to cut the time needed to produce an assessment plan from two hours to less than 10 minutes. These technologies have helped care institutions accelerate their digital transformation.

As Taiwan’s population ages and staffing shortages worsen in healthcare and long-term care, administrative tasks such as paperwork, scheduling and nighttime rounds are increasingly taking time away from clinical care. The Institute for Information Industry’s AI Institute and the Greater Southern New Silicon Valley Promotion Office brought together QinChuang Technology, Judian, Hongmao and Silver Gate to showcase AI and automation solutions designed to ease the staffing crunch.
Results released on July 8, 2026, showed that QinChuang’s DoctroToolbox can generate medical records within 30 seconds after a consultation, saving doctors two to three hours a day. Hongmao’s millimeter-wave platform can detect and report a fall within 10 seconds, cutting response times to under three minutes. Silver Gate is also using data from more than 3 million home-care visits to improve booking and vehicle scheduling. The report did not disclose the amount invested.
